Hey there, I'm having this issue with Arch that my JBL Go 3 or Xtreme 3 both refuse to connect via BT, and both the KDE settings and Blueman report this:

The bluetoothd service is started/enabled?
[sgal@MonolithicArches ~]$ systemctl status bluetoothd
Unit bluetoothd.service could not be found.

I am not, in general, an RTFM guy, I shall say it this time. Read The Fine Manual.

Got it. I’ll install bluez once I’m available and I’ll tag solved later on.

Ah, crap I misread that. The service is bluetooth.service, not bluetoothd.service

this service is up though, what gives then? the Go 3 happily pairs and connects with my Acer laptop which also runs Arch.

Here is a bluetoothctl session on my system. Given the same commands, what gets you?
ewaller@odin/home/ewaller % bluetoothctl

this is the output following the same commands as you did:

except that it did register their MAC addresses but not sync and connect properly.

Well, the good news is that the Bluetooth is working.
So what do we mean that the GO 3 does not sync properly? Will is associate? Or does it not work after associating?
How are you associating (manually, using a DE and its tools)?

Associating using KDE settings or Blueman, I don't have the GO 3 but I do have the Xtreme 3 (aka El Booxa).
trying to pair my iPhone (just tried it, that's why it isn't listed in bluetoothctl) and KDE just reports that the configurator has failed and Blueman reported that my iPhone had just disconnected.
