Volume increases on its own

Good day.

Motherboard MEG Unify X570 with onboard sound and Xonar U7 USB.

Arch with KDE.

All these while, there was no problem. For the past few days, I noticed that the volume increases on its own randomly. Sometimes jumps 5dB, sometimes more.

I have not installed any new packages.

All I could think of, is the arcade stick I recently bought for playing MAME games. But even after disconnecting it, the volume still jumps on it's own. This happens while playing movies or playing games. Sometimes it increases every few seconds, sometimes it increases after a longer gap.

I have an additional wireless mini keyboard with media controls connected via its 2.4G wireless adapter, to control the system from a distant. Even after disconnecting this the problem persists.

What's baffling is, there was no problem before. Why suddenly the annoying self volume increase?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I don't remember doing any changes to the system. The only thing I do is -Syu everyday when I turn on the system.  Not installed any new applications.

Re: Volume increases on its own

Even after disconnecting this the problem persists.

Disconnecting the keyboard or removing the dongle from the system?

You could run

sudo libinput debug-events --show-keycodes | grep VOLUME

to see whether there's spurious input or, alternatively, is rather somehow scripted.
(The grep output will come at a slight delay, even --line-buffered won't help; juggle your mouse a bit after the spurious volume change)

Last night I was playing MAME in Retroarch with the arcade stick for 30mins. There was no automated jump in volume. I don't think the problem is solved yet and will need to wait and see again. I will try the above and will report back. Thanks.
