Hey,
I hope this is the right place to ask, if not please direct me to a better place for it.
I tried many things already and just do not understand where this problem comes from.
Basically, I run an arch system with the xfce4 desktop environment on a HiDPI thinkpad notebook. I use the "Default-xhdpi" theme.
I followed most of the advice given in https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HiDPI already.
The (hopefully correctly relevant) output from printenv is (in this order):
GDK_DPI_SCALE=0.5
QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0
QT_FONT_DPI=96
QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2
When I navigate to the xfce Settings manager -> Appearance -> Fonts
The "Custom DPI" option is ticked and 196 DPI are specified.
When I untick this box (or specify 96 DPI), the text in Thunar appears correctly but in all other applications etc. the text is far too tiny.
I checked for options specific to Thunar but did not find any.
An image comparing the menu bars from Thunar, Terminal and Sublime Text and showing the problem:
The problem is not limited to only the menu bar though, also the folder and file names in Thunar are displayed far too big (the icons/symbols appear fine).
Does anybody have an idea where this behaviour comes from or can even point me to a solution?
I hope I supplied enough information, else please tell me.
Any help is much appreciated as I tried to solve this problem unsuccessfully for far too long now.
