Greetings, when i try to use mangohud on any steam game (mangohud %command% on launch parameters); the game just crashes (closes) without opening and i get the output
/bin/sh: line 1: mangohud: command not found
on steam, mangohud is indeed installed and working with Goverlay, anybody have ideas on why this might be happening?

Did you install it via AUR? I have it working on my PC, and that's all I did.
Run:
ls /usr/bin /usr/local/bin | grep mangohud
And see if it spits anything out, just to make sure it is indeed installed.

I'm not sure how it's not finding the binary when it's in the bin folders. Unless they somehow aren't in your PATH. But you'd have more issues than that if that were the case.

I too am scratching my head over this one, tried installing from aur and through meson + ninja through the instructions listed on Github...

That tells me your shell *is* finding mangohud, but you are failing to pass in a parameter called 'program' to mangohud.
No clue what is mangohud so I cannot venture a guess what needs be supplied, but some thing needs be supplied.
Edit: What does which -a mangohud report?

Are the games that fail using vulkan ?
If so, try adding MANGOHUD=1 instead of mangohud .
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

No luck I am pretty sure that nothing will work unless i get rid of that Mangohud not found message on Steam somehow...

What "Mangohud not found message"?
It is found. Something is not being passed to it correctly. My request was to find out if there are more than one 'Mangohud' things out there and if, perhaps, the wrong one is being used.

That's not a standard steam path, are you using some unsupported flatpak/snap/appimage?

I was using Steam with flatpak and decided to give Mangohud installed through flatpak a go and God damn, it worked! Marking thread as solved, thanks mate; it is kind of a bummer how this is not documented on most (if not any) sources though...
Edit: Goverlay is almost not possible to install on the flatpak version but damn, that's gotta do for now...
