Copy sound settings from SuSe Linux?

Is there a way I can copy the sound settings from SuSe Linux? Because the sound worked perfetct out-of-the-box with SuSe, but suse is to slow for me. And I can't live without pacman (L)

I heard alsaconf would only be good for some stoneaged ISA cards and alsoconf entries in modprobe.conf tend to interfere with udev leading to no sound at all.

Re: Copy sound settings from SuSe Linux?

Alsaconf has always worked for me unless i did something stupid like disable the on board in the bios.

There is a chance I know what I am talking about.

It's not that the sound doesn't work, but it isn't flawless.

I.e. it pauses when I do thing on my computer that requiers cpu, like minimizing and maximizing.

Re: Copy sound settings from SuSe Linux?

You probably have the same kind of problems many of us have when using arts under KDE.

Here's what i 've done :

1 - Goto Control center > Sound & Multimedia > sound system

DESELECT "enable the sound system"

This will get rid of arts and enable programs to use alsa directly , but has the disadvantage you will get no more system sounds from kde.

2 - pacman -S sox

3 - Goto Control center > Sound & Multimedia > system notifications > player settings

select 'use an external player'  and type in play as command.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
