BUG: kernel NULL pointer Lenovo L380 - upowerd -perists

After a recent upgrade $pacman -Syu which also installed a new kernel, brightness keys are no longer working.

In dmesg I see a BUG: kernel NULL pointer in connecttion with 'upowerd'

The system boots up with tainted kernel - and hangs sporatically, with capslock key blinking.

$uname -a
Linux L3800 5.19.2-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed, 17 Aug 2022 13:48:51 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

*

I thought it was solved because initialy after installing the UEFI BIOS 1.28 update, the BUG vanished. (The latest currently available version 1.29 refused to recognize my laptop)

But the BUG is back and the kernel is unstable again.

coincidentally I also have the Lenovo USB-C dock attached and I'm "happy*" that others these days observed exactly the same BUG; see
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=279027

*) "happy" because most probably it is not a hardware issue.
