f2fs compression not working

I did

mkfs.f2fs -l mylabel -O extra_attr,inode_checksum,sb_checksum,compression /dev/sdxY

and mounted with compress_algorithm=zstd:6,compress_chksum,atgc,gc_merge,lazytime just like the wiki says.

but when I try to do "chattr +c file" to compress something i just get "chattr: Invalid argument while setting flags on file"
