Audio stuttering or silent after upgrade of pipewire-pulse

After upgrading pipewire-pulse from version 1:0.3.56-1 to 1:0.3.57-1 I started having audio issues while pavucontrol is open:

* with my default profile, which is bluetooth headphones, I get very bad stuttering, and the audio is very slowed down.
* with an alsa device (my computers built in speakers) while pavucontrol is open I get no audio.
* I receive thousands of the following error message in my journalctl (seems to be posting it in a loop while the application is open):

Sep 05 16:20:40 archlinux pipewire[1217]: spa.alsa: hw:sofhdadsp: snd_pcm_avail after recover: Broken pipe
Sep 05 16:20:40 archlinux pipewire[1217]: spa.alsa: hw:sofhdadsp,5: snd_pcm_avail after recover: Broken pipe
Sep 05 16:20:40 archlinux pipewire[1217]: spa.alsa: hw:sofhdadsp,4: snd_pcm_avail after recover: Broken pipe
Sep 05 16:20:40 archlinux pipewire[1217]: spa.alsa: hw:sofhdadsp,3: snd_pcm_avail after recover: Broken pipe

When pavucontol is not open, I do not have any audio issues, and audio plays fine. Stopping one source (to switch back to the alsa speakers) also works fine, there is no stuttering, and there are none of the errors messages mentioned above.

Downgrading back from 1:0.3.57-1 to 1:0.3.56-1 fixes the issue.

Does anyone know what might be going on? should I be making a bug report somewhere upstream, or is this a known issue?

Forgot to mention. I also tried searching for the error message online, but didn't find anything that seemed directly related, but I could of course be wrong.

Same issue here! This caused problems with the audio in a web meeting yesterday. Oddly enough, the problem seemed to go away when I disconnected from my docking station. I can also make the problem go away even while docked if I set the profile to "Off" for my onboard sound device (Intel Corporation Comet Lake PCH-LP cAVS).

Re: Audio stuttering or silent after upgrade of pipewire-pulse

There's an upstream bug and a patch: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire … ssues/2671

If you want to test this now try installing pipewire-git to check whether it's fixed in master
