I dont have xf86-video-intel installed. As far as I see I would need to create a custom edid file, since mine only support the full resolution. Am I right?

Re: Unable to set lower resolution under X11/Wayland on Plasma

After installing xf86-video-intel and a reboot I was able to change the resolution. Unfortunately some apps (e.g. Thunderbird) are really sluggish now.

If I open Thunderbird only the outline of the window is drawn. After some seconds (10-30) the content appears. Same for system messages.

Re: Unable to set lower resolution under X11/Wayland on Plasma

Remove xf86-video-intel you really don't want to use that on HW this new and will have broken your HW acceleration. How exactly does "unable to lower resolution" show itself? which commands are you using? Also as most modern panels just look like shit with a lower resolution, is your actual end goal to get bigger UI elements? In which case you probably rather want to look into properly configuring HiDPI: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HiDPI
