Random freezing, what to do?

All of a sudden, my system started freezing out of nowhere, sometimes I'm with some stuff like browser and a pdf reader opened, sometimes there's nothing opened but it just freezes, and I can't move the mouse, I can't type anything, if I try to hard reset it, it doesn't work. My only option is to take the computer out of the energy line. Since linux doesn't provide any blue screens or diagnose tools, is there a way for me to know what is going on or should I just format it again and not do any updates this time? I thank you all in advance!

Re: Random freezing, what to do?

With arch that's hardly a thing.
First step would be to exchange the kernel, eg. try the LTS kernel.

Do your keyboard LEDs start to blink when this happens? What about sound? Does it continue? Loop?

if I try to hard reset it, it doesn't work

???
What exactly does that mean?
If pressing the power button for several seconds (usually at least 4/5) doesn't work, the issue isn't w/ the OS.

I am on Zen Kernel for some reason. I'll just change to LTS, thank you so much! What I meant by the hard reset was that I was pressing the reset button, but it did nothing, so I had to do the whole pressing the power button for 4/5 seconds.

Thank you for your time, patience and knowledge as always Seth!

Re: Random freezing, what to do?

Switching to the LTS kernel isn't a permanent fix, make sure the situation cures w/ at least the vanilla kernel because at some point it'll become the new LTS kernel.

"the reset button" on your hardware?

Do your keyboard LEDs start to blink when this happens? What about sound? Does it continue? Loop?

Try to restart the system w/ https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Keyboa … el_(SysRq) - if that doesn't work you'll have to debug the kernel w/ https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kdump

Is this a https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Ryzen#Troubleshooting CPU?
Or https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Intel_ … Intel_CPUs ?
