[SOLVED] I want to understand how to set the network up

Sorry, this is not the first post from me on this topic, let alone those posted by many other people, however I really find using the wikis (for this topic, not in general) extremely hard.

Last night I've asked for help on #archlinux, and could get something out of it, but clearly people doesn't keep interacting just with me (obviously, as there's many other people seeking for help like me, and that's fine), so I end up with answers which are incomplete (from my perspective, not in an absolute sense), and little understanding of the matter. The obvious result is that everytime I install arch, which happens generally after years everytime, setting up the network is always a pain in the backside (a bit like setting up the audio, but that at least doesn't prevent you from doing anything else, whereas no network means you can't do anything on a fresh install, so it pisses me off quite a bit).

So my main question is: how do I get my system on the internet just the way the live iso magically does so?

I mean, when I boot from the live iso, I just do

iwctl
station wlan0 connect WiFiName

insert the password and I'm good to go, in line with the second bullet from this piece of the installation guide

Connect to the network:
  - Ethernet—plug in the cable.
  - Wi-Fi—authenticate to the wireless network using iwctl.

Which means that when live booting, the 2 commands I've listed above (which I've just done, and works) or the physical action of plugging an ethernet cable (which I kinda remember I've done on my work station years ago) just works.

On #archlinux they told me that the iso doesn't just use iwd without a network manager; it does use one instead, and that is systemd-networkd.

Good. How do I get this thing work on my installed system? And why should I not want to do so?

Oh, I've free to reinstall a fresh arch right now, if that's a requirement to get a step by step help.

Can I have things working like this in the installed system?

Well, I've just done it, hopin that this helps somebody help me, as I've not screwd up anything already, I guess.

For reference here is a photo of the screen I took when setting up internat on the live arch and this is the corresponding photo in the installed arch.

That internet doesn't work out of the box is expected, ok. But now how do I go about setting up the network just like in the live version?

With reference to Network_configuration#Check_the_connection, as regards point 1 I see wlan0 listed, but is it enabled? Does DOWN mean that it's not enabled (ineeded in the first screen from live arch it was UP)?

Please, help me understand the steps of the wiki.

Photos don't correspond.
Not any attempt to connect to internet done. Try iwctl like on archiso.

Re: [SOLVED] I want to understand how to set the network up

I followed sections 2, 2.1, 2.1.1, 4.3, 4.3.3 from iwd's wiki to fix the issue.

I was suggested to also follow 2 and 2.1 from systemd-resolved's wiki as necessary step (why the step is necessary is written in that section).
