Hey all,
I upgraded my packages yesterday with
yay -Syubut when I turned my computer back on today and tried to log back in, I am unable to. Usually my GUI gives me an error if I have an incorrect password, but now there is not feedback with an unsuccessful login. I also cannot login to the guest account which requires no password. I can, however, login to the ctrl + alt + F2 terminal with my same credentials. I read that issues with login often happen with the login or system-login files in /etc/pam.d, but I do not have any .pacnew files as replacements. In the past, I have been unable to login due to issues with permissions, but on those occasions, it at least tried to login and then gave me an empty screen. This time, it doesn't even attempt to login or give me any errors in the UI. I also read that some people were able to fix similar issues with a simple
pacman -Syyuwhich I tried to no avail. Any ideas on how to solve this? I'd really, really appreciate it!
I am using Cinnamon with LightDM.
Edit: Upon reading the output of journalctl -b, I found this, which looks suspicious...
Activating via systemd: service name='org.freesdesktop.home1' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.home1.service' requested by ':1/17' (uid=0 pid=643 comm="(systemd)")Activating via systemd: failed for unit 'dbus-org.freedesktop.home1.service': Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.home1.service not found.pam_systemd_home(systemd-user:account): systemd-homed is not available: Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.home1.service not found.Last edited by Qhapaq Qowi (2022-09-27 20:48:06)

You guys are amazing! Thanks for linking! My bad for not doing a good search. I'll remember that for next time. I installed downgrade, downgraded webkit2gtk to the last working version I had locally, and it worked! Many thanks!!! I
