[RESOLVED] Brother printer network connection

I have a Brother HL-5450DN printer. According to the training → https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Packag … er_drivers I installed the drivers

pacaur -S brother-hl5450dn

What further steps should be taken to complete the installation? Currently, the printer is not detected, when connected to the network (not directly to the computer).

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/CUPS#Network

To discover, make use of discovered or share printers using DNS-SD/mDNS, setup .local hostname resolution with Avahi and restart cups.service.
Note: DNS-SD is only supported when using Avahi. CUPS does not support using systemd-resolved for DNS-SD, see CUPS issue 5452.

To share printers with Samba, e.g. if the system is to be a print server for Windows clients, the samba package will be required.

Re: [RESOLVED] Brother printer network connection

In my case, a network printer had to be added manually over HTTP in CUPS (http://localhost:631/)

Re: [RESOLVED] Brother printer network connection

Many modern printers can be set up with driverless printing using IPP Everywhere - which makes installation independent of having to find driver files, and works really well.  Driverless printing was described in the Arch Wiki so presumably it is still there.
