[SOLVED] How to disable cracked touchscreen on HP x360 convertable

Recently I had a water bottle dropped on my laptop which cracked the screen. The touchscreen has been on the fritz since then, the display works fine otherwise.

HP has a guide on how to disable the touchscreen, but it's for windows (https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-take … uch-screen)

I imagine this is not a complex fix but I have been unable to find a linux-specific guide on how to disable the touchscreen and don't know where to start when looking into hardware control options.

I don't know what information would be of use here but Might as well include

KDE plasma 5.25.5
Kernel version: 5.19.13-arch1-1

It’s likely it acts as a normal pointing device at hardware level. That would be handled by libinput. See disabling touchpad in libinput for some hints.

Re: [SOLVED] How to disable cracked touchscreen on HP x360 convertable

I'm fairly certain that I was able to solve the issue now using the information from that wiki article

I'll leave the thread open for a little longer though to see if there's any other answers that could be useful

thanks for the help!
