Why is there a foo in Easy-RSA of ArchWiki?

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Easy-R … nd_clients

It doesn't explain anything, should I just create a user who is named foo?

Re: Why is there a foo in Easy-RSA of ArchWiki?

"foo" is a common generic placeholder, in this case for the actual username you're interested in.

Edit: even worth wikipedia entry smile

Do you mean that I just need to replace it with my user name?

Did you read the note at the top of the page in the box titled 'Note'? It explains what the foo is for.

Re: Why is there a foo in Easy-RSA of ArchWiki?

The wiki wrote:

For the purposes of this guide, using scp is shown, but readers may employ alternative methods as well. Since the Arch default is to deny the root user over ssh, using scp requires transferring ownership of the files to be exported to a non-root user called foo throughout the guide.

Any available user on those hosts will do.

Edit: blast.
