Permissions and devices reset on reboot

When I run ...alsa_driver/snddevices, it creates the sound devices in my /dev directory.  When I reboot, they're gone!

Also:  when I change permissions of mounted directions like /mnt/windows, they are reset to root only on reboot!  How can I fix these things?  Is there anyway besides rc.local?  Or is rc.local the only way?

Re: Permissions and devices reset on reboot

I'm not that great with devfs for the alsa problem, but you should be able to read around.

for the windows drive, you need to change your options in fstab.  The easiest way for a user to be able to edit a fat partition mounted by default is the "uid=1001" option, where 1001 is your id (given by the id command).
