GNOME multimedia keys

Did anyone manage to get Gnome working with multimedia (extra) keys on ones keyboard (I mean, vol up/down, mute etc). I have assigned symbols to keys and set up keyboard shortcuts but it does not seem to work. Pressing mute does nothing, the same goes for volume keys. Is a correct behaviour of Gnome?

Re: GNOME multimedia keys

I managed this by changing my xorg.conf in keyboard section :

Option "XkbModel" "logimedia"

Then assigning shortcuts with Gnome Administration Keyboard..

And now I can turn off sound, vol up/down etc  wink

Hope it's clear and helps

You can also try lineak or keytouch.
