Hello,
For over a whole month, I've been a happy user of the Budgie desktop environment. But starting from 7 days ago or so, I noticed that I'm not able to fully maximize windows in most cases anymore - I get glitches, which did not occur before. I thought that I messed something up and did a clean install of the system. But the problem still persists, and now I'm here asking what to do next.
Here's an example: https://i.postimg.cc/y8V5GC65/Workspace-1-001.png
In this case the window is maximized, but the right side lies "outside" of the monitor. The maximize button is on the very edge of the screen, and the close button can not be seen at all. In this state the window is unresponsive - it must be minimized from the taskbar and then maximized again, and only then it is responsive and correctly maximized again.
I also get glitch fragments when trying to maximize like this: https://i.postimg.cc/02grDc5r/Selection-001.png
Here's a full video of it: https://postimg.cc/py4tv0L4
I switched from the stable kernel to the Longterm Kernel, but the bug still persists.
I'm using:
CPU: Intel Pentium G4560 (4) @ 3.500GH
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 610 (KBL GT1)
DE: Budgie 10.6.4 (latest stable version from end of august)
Windowing system: X11 (Budgie has no Wayland)
WM: Mutter(Budgie)
Kernel: 6.0.8-arch1-1
Resolution: 1920x1080
xrandr
gives

[ 29.383] (EE) Failed to load module "vesa" (module does not exist, 0)
Tried to install xf86-video-intel. Then I get:
[ 8.516] (EE) Failed to load module "vesa" (module does not exist, 0)
[ 8.550] (EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
[ 8.550] (EE) AIGLX error: unable to load driver i965
Tried to install mesa-amber instead of mesa and did a 20-intel.conf file like described in https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Intel_ … figuration. Then the errors disappeared except from
[ 8.698] (EE) Failed to load module "vesa" (module does not exist, 0)
but the bug still remains.
Any ideas?

The root window isn't bigger than the monitor, this smells like a bug in budgies WM/compositor.
Consult your pacman log to see whether there was a budgie related update around the time this started.

Seems to really to be a bug with the DE, the Budgie team is been made aware of this issue and is taking care of that.

Budgie dev here - seems to be a problem introduced by the update to Mutter 43.1. We're looking into it.
