Hey everyone,
I have problems getting OpenCL to run on a freshly installed system and I really need help with troubleshooting. The problem is that the whole OpenCL environment seems to be working and everything is recognized, but any program actually trying to use OpenCL just freezes. For example starting darktable in a terminal gives me this:
$ darktable -d opencl

The prompt just stops there and does nothing, the software never starts or gives me any error or something. I tested darktable without OpenCL - just works perfectly. On the same machine, without the A770 installed, I can run darktable on the CPU-integrated Intel Graphics with OpenCL just fine - so I guess every package is installed.
I tried starting Davinici Resolve, but it also freezes (without giving me anything helpful in the terminal). I also tried to run geekbench OpenCL test - it hangs with the first try to run the actual test:

I am of course on all latest packeges, most importantly:
linux 6.0.9.arch1-1
mesa 22.2.3-1
intel-compute-runtime 22.30.23789-1
xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+916+g31486f40-2
The "i915.force_probe=0x56a0" trick is active in grub and I verified that ResizebleBar is working. I really have no further idea what could be missing or where I could investigate more. Apart from OpenCL the card is running smoothly and it would be a shame to go back to nvidia... Any help or hint is appreciated, thank you so much!
PS: A few weeks ago I was trying to get the card running on an older AMD System. There I was running mesa, intel-compute-runtime and some dependencies directly from git. Even with the latest and greatest versions I always got the same problems like I am experiencing right now.
Offline
Remove xf86-video-intel and restart xorg it does not actively support a GPU this new and it will potentially set up the rest of the system in a way that might break things in subtle and seemingly unrelated ways.

Thank you for your quick respond! I just learned that this package is indeed not a necessary driver. I removed it and re-installed mesa and all dependencies. Unfortunately nothing about the problem has changed. Are there any configuration files I might need to delete, too?
EDIT: I run Wayland, not xorg. On the old AMD system I had no luck starting xorg at all, and as I prefer Wayland anyways I didn't bother with xorg troubleshooting on the new system.

Just for the records: Yesterday I enjoyed the process of formatting the hard drive an re-installing Arch (again). This time without "xf86-video-intel" or any X package at all - just to verify that there is no weird misconfiguration. Well, it didn't change anything.
So I decided to dive into git and install some of the latest versions of usefull packages, namely:
intel-graphics-compiler-bin-1:1.0.12260.1-1
intel-compute-runtime-bin-22.43.24558-1
mesa-git-23.0.0_devel.163509.c5d91ab254e.d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e-1
I also compiled latest kernel 6.1rc7 -> nothing has changed...
So, am I too early with this card? Or is this a bug? Time to give up?

According to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DaVinc … stallation :
This is due to the 'cl_khr_gl_sharing' extension not being implemented.
Is that extension present in clinfo output ?
Yes, please post the whole clinfo output .
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Thank you for the tip! I checked and 'cl_khr_gl_sharing' seems to be not implemented. But this does not explain why darktable has problems (darktable works with the integradet GPU just fine). Here is the complete clinfo:
