Loading my cs46xx module for Thinkpad T20

I'm having some issues with my AL 0.6 install.  The install is on a Thinkpad T20 with a Crystal Sound soundcard that normally uses the cs46xx module.  I have an entry in /etc/rc.conf in MODULES for cs46xx but when I run lsmod I don't see it loaded (my network card is, though)

What did I miss here to get the soundcard recognized?

Thanks.

Are you using 2.6 or 2.4?

If it's 2.6 you had better migrate to alsa.

Yes, the 2.6 kernel..  I have ALSA installed, but it's the soundcard not being setup correctly that's causing the problem I think.

Sound server informational message:

Error whil iinitializing the sound driver:

device: default can't be opened for playback (No such file or directory)

The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
