I was thinking of compiling a second instance of the nvidia drivers via a PKGBUILD for a secondary kernel I installed (k26beyond). Anyone have a better suggestion?

Why not use the Arch nvidia packages? "nvidia" and "nvidia-beyond" coexist quite well.
