ROOT (CERN library) package gone from community ?

Hello,

I found out the hard way about ROOT not being in the community repo anymore, but only in community-staging. Is that an error from the maintainer, or is there something else going on with this package? I couldn't find any info on that topic in the mailing list.

Cheers,
Jules

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Offici … positories

This repository contains broken packages and is used solely by developers during rebuilds of many packages at once.

Also

Warning: Do not enable the staging repositories for any reason. Your system will unquestionably break after performing an update. This repository is only meant for backend developer use.

It looks like it was an error from the maintainer. From the svn/git history, it looks like they accidentally moved the cuda 12 rebuild to community, then moved it from there to community-staging, leaving nothing in community.

Thanks for the insight. Is it worth filing a bug report though? I'm hesitant since this might be intentional as well, I'm afraid this would bother maintainers for nothing.

Rebuilds in staging get moved to testing, then the stable repo. If it looked like this was moving quickly, I'd say just wait it out, but it's been 4 days like this already. A bug report makes sense.

OK I thought staging packages wouldn't be removed from stable repos in the first place. I'm suspecting this is related to ROOT developers being busy with an LLVM update for Cling recently, and this project has ties with ROOT as well. I'll wait a week or two and see what happens. Thanks again!
