[SOLVED] Turn on GPU for specific application only.

Hey!
I have installed arch on my laptop a phew years ago, and after completely breaking it (totally unexpected), I have reinstalled it using the ArchInstall (certainly doing a better job than me).
I am currently trying to get my graphics card to stay off all of the time, unless I launch an app with the `DRI-PRIME=1` argument (or anything similar achieving the same kind of result). The idea is to rely on the processur's graphics to handle everything except blender renders and games to save as much battery as possible without losing performance when it is necessary.

After starting to follow the tutorial about AMDGPU, I realized that I both have no clue what I'm doing, and this might not even help in what I'm trying to do.  Currently, my graphics card is undected by blender and I am unsure whether or I have installed everything correctly. I am using an AMD Radeon Pro WX 3100 on a zbook 15u g5.

Am I on the right track? Is there a good place to find informations about similar things ? Or more broadly, any battery-saving things that would let me code for longer without charging?
Thanks in advance for your answers!

Re: [SOLVED] Turn on GPU for specific application only.

Thanks for the answer! This is exactly what I was looking for. Now I just seem to have constant Kernel issues or something else that just crashes everything I launch using the `DRI_PRIME=1`... I'm still trying to figure it out but I think I either broke something or forgot something. Could it be because my hardware uses an unusual architecture ? I can't find any documentation about it, and I can't figure out a good way to read my journalctl, it gets filled up instantly with thousands of messages each second after the crash, and it also prevents me from rebooting properly, I can only force a power down.

Edit : This is not asking for more help on this matter, I think the new question has changed too much and needs a new thread. Thanks again big_smile
