Hail!
I installed lightdm with

# pacman -S lightdm lightdm-gtk-greeter lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings

edited the ```/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf``` file, and enabled the service. It fails to load, because missing lightdm-gtk-greeter user.

The conf file:

Re: [SOLVED]lightdm won't start, miising username "lighdm-gtk-greeter"

Yeah, and?  The error is pretty clear - I highly doubt there is a user on your system named "lightdm-gtk-greeter", is there?  I think lightdm creates a user named "lightdm", and I suspect this would be the default without uncommenting and changing that line of the config, but unless you created another user named lightdm-gtk-greeter, then the error makes sense.

On the other machine there is no need of any user created, lightdm just starts.

And on this other machine I suspect you did not edit the config file in the same way.  There should be no need to create any user if you use the default config.  But if you explicitly tell lightdm to use a given user name, that user name must exist.

Re: [SOLVED]lightdm won't start, miising username "lighdm-gtk-greeter"

Mostly the same way. But you were true: when I set up the greeter, messed the greeter-user and greeter-session lines. Now everything is alright. Me too. Thanks!
