[SOLVED] Set AMD discrete GPU as default instead of the integrated

Hello,

I just received my new AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. I switched from an NVIDIA GTX 1080, so I ensured mesa and linux-firmware where up to date before the switch, and then uninstalled the proprietary nvidia driver. Now I have a problem: my system uses the integrated Intel GPU. I read that this may be because of PRIME, but I have no idea how to configure the discrete GPU as the main one so everything, including the compositor (Wayland in my case), use this GPU, not the integrated one.

Thanks!

Re: [SOLVED] Set AMD discrete GPU as default instead of the integrated

does the system start from the uefi boot screen on the amd card and change to the intel gpu at some stage in the boot process ? if so then it may be a prime issue, if not then check the uefi settings for default display device.

EDIT: to try and explain what i mean better, do you have to physically change your monitor cable from the amd card to the intel card during the boot process ?

Re: [SOLVED] Set AMD discrete GPU as default instead of the integrated

I ended up disabling the integrated GPU straightaway from the UEFI/BIOS. That worked, as Linux was then only able to identify one GPU: the discrete AMD one.
