[SOLVED] GNOME automount of usb thumb drive stopped working.

the thumb drive is recognized by the system (lsusb) and i can mount it manually using:

udisksctl mount -b /dev/sdXX

and everything is work fine.
but before, as i pluged the thumb drive in, GNOME automount it.
how can i get back to this behavior (GNOME automount)?

this is happening with any thumb drive i plugged in (i tried 3).
i can only mount thumb drives manually.

this behavior is couple of months old.

in dconf-editor the automount option is on:

Re: [SOLVED] GNOME automount of usb thumb drive stopped working.

Please replace the oversized image with a plain URL, as per the forum guidelines.

And anyway you don't need an image to show the configuration:

$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.media-handling automount
true
$

In respect of the actual problem, what do these commands show after plugging the device (run the command first, then plug the USB stick in and post the new output that appears):

udisksctl monitor
udevadm monitor

Re: [SOLVED] GNOME automount of usb thumb drive stopped working.

after i ran those commands i saw that my thumb drive is automounted(!) on nautilus.
i did a restart and also tried another thumb drive and again, both thumb drives are automount as it should.
i have to say that my PC was shutdown from yesterday and half an hour ago i opened it, did a pacman update, saw your message, ran those commands, message you the output and from then the automount is working again.
i don't understand this.
does those commands i ran, fixed my issue?
i didn't do anything else that could fix it...

No. They just monitor udisks, udev & dmesg.

Me neither.

This is called a Heisenbug :-)
