[SOLVED] Firefox issue: Symbols become unreadable text in Google-cal..

Hi

For some weeks - maybe even months, I've had this mysterious problem that I don't fully know how to describe with words... But I'll try: In some Google applications (e.g. google calendar), there are some special symbols like "<" to go back a month, ">" to go forward a month, "^" to hide (collapse) and so on. These special symbols have been shown correctly for many years using Firefox/Linux. But for the past year, it doesn't work and Firefox seem to replace these symbols such as "^" with large text: "keyboard_arrow_up" and when you have both "<" and ">" close to each other, that becomes unreadable text because the text is written on top of each other and all letters seem scrambled/corrupt... Yeah, I cannot explain it very well so therefore I've also taken a screenshot and highlighted in red where the problems are, please see https://ibb.co/h9X0Cq3

I'm also using I3 desktop environment and "picom-trans"-compositor - but that shouldn't change anything (also because chromium works)? Does anyone know anything about this weird and annoying behavior, which I suspect only exists on Arch Linux (maybe with I3) ? It's incredibly annoying and I tried to google for it, but have a hard time finding the right search keywords. Hope someone knows anything and that the image https://ibb.co/h9X0Cq3 helps understand the issue, thanks!

Neither your OS nor the WM has any role in this.

Firefox renders the idiomatic text (aria/a11y feature for screenreaders)
Possibly some user style?

Try to run "killall firefox; firefox -safe-mode" to kill all firefox instances and start firefox w/o extensions etc. and see whether the issue remains.

Re: [SOLVED] Firefox issue: Symbols become unreadable text in Google-cal..

Aah, thanks a lot... I actually don't know what is the reason but I do not that when I started firefox up in safemode, it gave me 2 options and asked me if I wanted to reset everything - or start in safe mode. I first started in safe mode - nothing changed. Then I started again and chose "yes" to refresh/reset everything and after that everything worked... I'm not sure what happened or if has removed my extensions, I'll write an update later. But for now, "resetting" firefox seemed to work. Thanks a alot, this looks very promising - so promising that I'll mark this thread as solved now!

Thanks!
