Bluetooth keyboard reverting layout after being disconnected

Hi, fairly new to Arch installed on a 2014 mac mini using i3 on Xorg.

When the computer boots, the keyboard layout is fine (e.g. the key right to 1 and top of tab prints /)

 nboisvert@nboisvert-arch  ~  localectl
System Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8
    VC Keymap: cf
   X11 Layout: ca
    X11 Model: multix

But if I disconnect my keyboard, localectl keeps showing the same thing but the layout changes to another one (not sure which one it is but the same key as above prints #). I then need to run

setxkbmap -layout ca -variant multix

For the keymap to be as it was.

I'm not sure exactly what is required to give me help but tell me and I'll copy paste what is required.

Re: Bluetooth keyboard reverting layout after being disconnected

localectl shows the system config, not the current layout.

setxkbmap print -query

I'm not sure exactly what is required to give me help but tell me and I'll copy paste what is required.

Next to the above output, please post your xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General

Re: Bluetooth keyboard reverting layout after being disconnected

The output stays the same before and after

 nboisvert@nboisvert-arch  ~  setxkbmap print -query
rules: evdev
model: multix
layout: print
 nboisvert@nboisvert-arch  ~  setxkbmap -layout ca -variant multix
 nboisvert@nboisvert-arch  ~  setxkbmap print -query
rules: evdev
model: multix
layout: print
 nboisvert@nboisvert-arch  ~ 

Here is the log output. (NEXT TIME 3 is the keyboard's name)

I see some lines about it being seen as a mouse at some point not sure if that's normal in the device detection process

Re: Bluetooth keyboard reverting layout after being disconnected

Sorry, vicious typo

setxkbmap -print -query

You accidentally changed the layout to "print" because of that wink
Maxima mea culpa.

Also please post the entire xorg log, not random excerpts.

Re: Bluetooth keyboard reverting layout after being disconnected

Which is significant, because your localectl has only configured it as model (not sure whether such actually exists, not here, at least)
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg/K … _localectl - use "evdev" as model.
