I'm suddenly having issues where my touchpad isn't working at all (no cursor movement). An external USB mouse works mine. I've reloaded psmouse and many other kernel modules along with multiple reboots. Tried adding something to xorg.conf.d, and I have libinput installed.
The xorg log shows:
(**) SYNA7DAB:91 06CB:CD40 Touchpad: Applying InputClass "touchpad"
(II) Using input driver 'libinput' for 'SYNA7DAB:91 06CB:CD40 Touchpad'
(**) SYNA7DAB:91 06CB:CD40 Touchpad: always reports core events
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse1"
(II) mouse1 - not using input device '/dev/input/mouse1'.
(EE) libinput: SYNA7DAB:91 06CB:CD40 Touchpad: Failed to create a device for /dev/input/mouse1
(EE) PreInit returned 2 for "SYNA7DAB:91 06CB:CD40 Touchpad"
(II) UnloadModule: "libinput"
This happened after an update. I reverted back to the snapshot before it and it's still happening. Also occurs on an Ubuntu liveusb. Works fine with a USB mouse. The "not using input device" seems to be a potential issue?
I have no idea what to do and I need this touchpad working by tomorrow. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Occurs on linux-lts as well.

You might need to install and use xinput and some commands to it to use the touchpad. Some steps are on the Arch wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xinput
These settings can move around during updates (kernel, xinput, etc). The numbers might change, etc.

What sort of parameters should I be looking for?

Sounds like it might be due to hardware failure then, presuming it worked with that ISO previously.

Turns out it was in fact hardware-level. I had heard of the fact that on some laptops there is a function key to disable the trackpad, but I had heard that it was F7/8 on most Acers, not F12 which was the case here.

Thank you so much! On this Acer it was F10, It's kind of stupid but whatever.
