[SOLVED] NVIDIA driver not working with LTS kernel (on my PC)

Yes, back again.
Sadly I am starting to lose the fun factor.

Perhaps you know me from this thread:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=283357

Right now I think Head on a Stick was right:

Sounds more like a graphical failure. Do you have an NVIDIA card perchance?

I opened a new thread, because the problem is indeed no grub problem anymore.
Please let me know mods if incorrect.

At this moment my computer has a fresh Arch install. This with the LTS kernel and nvidia-lts.
Earlier today I tried the install with LTS kernel and nvidia-open. That went not so well.
So I did a full clean reinstall with the nvidia-lts. Bootloader now is systemd bootloader

oh, ok.. the problem.
Starting my computer, my monitor will get stuck during the Arch boot. When all the ok messages go by. Almost anytime at a different line.
This probably because it's only the monitor that will get stuck.
Detaching my monitor from the GPU and attaching it to the motherboard for Intel graphics, monitor goes back on and shows the login prompt.
Displayport and HDMI are both not working on the GPU.

I changed nvidia_drm.modeset=1
Following this thread:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=268390
But I really don't know what to put in the  mkinitcpio#MODULES

Advice is welcome.
P.s. I am trying the LTS kernel, because the normal kernel did not work with my Windows 11 tryout in Virtualbox.
I was only experimenting for watching Netflix in UHD on Linux.
Switching cables (HDMI for Netflix) and resetting bios boot device will never in my life cost me more time than I already spent on... well.

Blacklist "i915", use https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel … and_line_2

Re: [SOLVED] NVIDIA driver not working with LTS kernel (on my PC)

Super, GPU is working (instead of CPU graphics). Thank you very much!

Excuses, for a not very smart question. It's a bit on-topic (I'll change the title to solved later).

Seaching for instructions to switch kernel, I don't find instructions in which the video driver is mentioned (more concrete, there is no warning to also think about the video driver) .
Isn't it so that combining the normal arch linux kernel with the nvidia-lts is not a good idea?
And combining linux-lts with the normal nvidia or nvidia-open neither is good?

Perhaps am I just stressing too much.

Re: [SOLVED] NVIDIA driver not working with LTS kernel (on my PC)

You cannot combine nvidia w/ linux-lts nor linux w/ nvidia-lts
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA#Installation explains which driver to choose, other than that idk which instrcutions you searched or found, but you also don't have to "switch" the kernel; you can install as many kernels in parallel as you've free space in your /boot drive.
