Hello,
since an update on wednesday, my Logitech MX1000 mouse with LX710 receiver is not working anymore, because udev is tagging it as an tablet device. What can I do to fix this?

lsusb
Find it in /usr/lib/udev/{rules,hwdb}.d/*
You can also set ID_INPUT_TABLET=0 ID_INPUT_TABLET_PAD=0 w/ a matching rule in /etc/udev/rules.d/
Offline
I've changed all ID_INPUT_TABLET=1 and ID_INPUT_TABLET_PAD=1 entries in /usr/lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-input-id.hwdb and 65-libwacom.hwdb to 0 without success
Offline
You might still have to update the cache, https://man.archlinux.org/man/systemd-hwdb.8.en
But instead of blindly editing the configuration for devices you rather don't have (wacom isn't logitech), post lsusb, so you can
a) take a more structured approach to identify the offending entry
b) fix it w/ a local udev rule
c) report the mismatch it upstream
Offline
Updating the cache didn't work. Fixing it with a udev rule is the better way but I've never done this before.

Please use "code" tags, not "quote" tags. Edit your post in this regard.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Udev#udev_rule_example
Try /etc/udev/rules.d/99-mouse_not_tablet.rules
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c517", ENV{ID_INPUT_TABLET}="0", ENV{ID_INPUT_TABLET_PAD}="0"

Thank you for information, i've edited my previous posts.
I've also created the udev rule, but without success. My mouse is still detected as tablet device...
Is there anything else I could try?
Offline
Did you explicitly test the rules, trigger them and did you reload the rule set (or reboot)?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Udev#T … re_loading
Does it help if you fish the udev/hwdb.d from the previous systemd package, https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/s/systemd/ ?
(We might be able to isolate the offensive change so you can report a bug, because ultimately the mouse is mishandled)
Offline
I replaced 60-input-id.hwdb and 65-libwacom.hwdb by renaming and reinstall systemd and libwacom package.
Then I ran udevadm test /dev/input/event6, but it doesn't change the ID_INPUT_TABLET
This program is for debugging only, it does not run any program
specified by a RUN key. It may show incorrect results, because
some values may be different, or not available at a simulation run.

So this is read:
Reading rules file: /etc/udev/rules.d/99-mouse_not_tablet.rules
but apparently inert…
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c517", ATTR{ID_INPUT_TABLET}="0", ATTR{ID_INPUT_TABLET_PAD}="0"

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused now. Is ATTR for a specific device and ENV for all devices or what's the difference?
I changed the 99-mouse_not_tablet.rules to
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c517", ATTR{ID_INPUT_TABLET}="0", ATTR{ID_INPUT_TABLET_PAD}="0"
but without sucess

No, I just had thought this was handles as ATTR, but on closer inspection (grep /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/ it's actually ENV
Did you try to revert 60-evdev.rules ?
Offline
I didn't replace 60-evdev.rules before, because I made no changes. Now I replaced it but no difference...

I made a downgrade from systemd 253-1 to version 252.5-1 and now my mouse is working fine again. I will report the bug later

Hi @ktov,
I have the same issue and was able to bisect the issue to https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/25866 (reported as https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/26600)
I linked this thread in the issue. Feel free to report more details there

I have the same issue on systemd-253.1-3
Solved this by adding /etc/udev/rules.d/99-mouse.rules
