Few days ago I installed arch using the script and it worked fine. Then around 23rd Feb, I upgraded the packages and the next day, the PC would get stuck in a blank screen after kernel messages. I reinstalled the OS without NetworkManager and it booted fine. I have a realtek rtl8723de network card. Then I installed NetworKManager and the enabling it caused the boot freeze again.
Following are a few points to consider:
1. The NetworkManager worked fine before the kernel was updated to 6.1.2 from 6.0.x
2. The older versions of NetworkManager service still cause the same boot freeze with 6.1.x kernel versions.
3. Disabling NetworkManager service leads to a normal boot, after which if I manually start the service, there are no errors and everything works fine.
4. Downgrading the kernel to a version <=6.0.x leads to a normal boot even with NetworkManager enabled.
Thus, the automatic starting of NetworkManager in kernels above 6.1.x is causing the issue. Can anyone tell what is going on here?
