New to Arch 64 - font question

Hi,
Just built a new system using an AMD64 processor. I installed Arch64 and just love the speed. I'm using two Viewsonic LCD monitors (VA912b) running on DVI cable from an Nvidia based card.
My question is about the fonts.  In most apps they're not too bad, but in firefox the toolbars and menus are not good.  It's as if the left hand side of each letter is fuzzy.

So  far I've tried quite a few things and the most helpful so far has been the info in the Wiki;

http://wiki2.archlinux.org/index.php/XO … figuration

Right now I've pasted the code from the "A web developer's fonts/local.conf taken from arch forums" section of the wiki section linked above into the HOME/.fonts.conf file. I've loaded the MS fonts as well.

Can anyone help? What causes this left side fuzziness? Does Arch64 differ from Arch in handling fonts?

Thanks in advance and kudos to the devs and the Arch64 guys.  Arch Rocks!

Jim

Re: New to Arch 64 - font question

Try fooling around with nvidia-settings (ex. set the Hz to 50 or 60 there) or maybe change the font size +- 1.

There  are several threads on fonts, you could look there for ideas.

Good luck.
