Hello, my friend is having trouble with his computer. The computer experiences instant shutdown with the caps-lock LED blinking. The troubleshooting was a bit hard as no log was written anywhere during the kernel panic. We managed to use netconsole in order to send the kernel panic trace to UDP and analyze that:

[ 1047.963502] ---[ end Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task! ]---After a brief research on the Internet, I saw that the problem might be coming from the RAM, so we ran memtest86+ but no errors were detected. Note that Windows 10 is also installed on this computer and also experiences crash resulting in a BSOD (and random error code every time).

Why is the kernel that old? Update your system, and maybe you'll also want to update your firmware/UEFI as there have been a lot of AMD firmware fixes in the interim.
Also make sure to set up microcode updates if you haven't yet.

The crashs also occur on Windows, so I really think this is a hardware problem. Different kernel panic errors every time doesn't help identifying the physical source of the problem.

Hello, I am the said friend and I'd like to add a few things :
I don't update my packages that often because I have once had a crash during an update causing a lot of packages to be corrupted including my boot loader. Even so, they have been updated (kernel too) and it did not change anything
a memtest has been done with no errors
a test using smartctl has been done on my NMVe SSD (both my arch linux and windows partitions are on this disk) apparently there are some errors but from my testings and from what I've read smartctl isn't really compatible with NVMe disks so I don't know
Error Information (NVMe Log 0x01, 16 of 256 entries)
Num ErrCount SQId CmdId Status PELoc LBA NSID VS
0 730 0 0x9016 0x4005 - 0 1 -sometimes my WiFi card just dies (only on Windows though it seems) and I cannot connect to any router until I reboot
it is a laptop and the graphics card is kinda turned off when on battery and the CPU is nerfed when not needed. So in full power conditions (connected to the power supply and when a needy game is launched) it seems like the shutdowns are considerably less frequent
