[SOLVED]Disabling SDDM causes timeout

I have KDE DE installed and was using SDDM to log into i3wm, but decided to stop using sddm and use startx and the .xinitrc file.
(i3 config .xinitrc and .Xresources don't seem to have anything that might be causing this problem)
Doing so causes programs to take a long time to open.

journalctl gives the folowing error

Re: [SOLVED]Disabling SDDM causes timeout

Your .xinitrc is setup incorrectly which is what's causing the timeout, see the blue notes in https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xinit#xinitrc

Post your .xinitrc if in doubt.

Re: [SOLVED]Disabling SDDM causes timeout

Copying the .xinitrc file and changing just the end fixed it.
Not sure why I don't have the same problem on another machine just with "exec i3" on the .xinitrc file.
Thanks for the help
