Synopsis: Upgrading to the most recent pv 1.7.24-1 seems to have solved the issue - the progress bar is back.
I've been using pv in a kernel hook with rsync and it worked for years without issue. A while back though it became totally silent. Even tried switching to tar but it made no difference. Still silent. I do seem to recall that the progress indicator in the archiso disappeared at about the same time that it went silent but that might just be coincidence. The files get copied correctly so I know that rsync and tar are working as before.
Here are the pv flags I use:
pv --bytes --eta --line-mode --progress --rate --size ${live__FILEcount}Does anyone know if pv has changed in a way that would now require different/new flags to make it work once again in a kernel hook?
EDIT:
I should add that these flags provide the progress bar if fun in a script from a terminal.

Backward compatibility is for the masses. There's no dual-boot here.
