Blurry fonts on the web

Hello, I'm struggling, trying to figure why some sites like reddit or twitter show the fonts strange, like blurry or 'bolder'.

For example, the fonts look awesome on the Arch forums:

But on twitter it looks like they where 'bold'

Same on reddit, don't know why

Tried everything related to hinting, fonts.conf, etc, nothing changes, help appreciated.

Use the web inspector to see which font is actually used (the one on Titter clearly differs from the forum one, look at the "g")
reddit seems to be the same font but the difference there is probably just the local contrast (black & white) the font size and maybe subpixel rendering

nb. that FF & chromium tend to ignore fontconfig settings, check their wikis for configuration options.
