I am using a lenovo P52 laptop with 8th gen Xeon Processor and Quadro.
Everything works acceptably except when I plug in an external monitor. I'm sure its because I've messed up the configuration somewhere.
Any ideas and what information can I add to help solve this?

Mess down your config…
Please post your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General and in doubt remove xf86-video-intel and all references to it
grep -ri intel /{etc,usr/share}/X11/xorg.conf*Offline
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "Mess down your config"
I'm running kde Plasma if that makes any difference.
grep -ri intel /{etc,usr/share}/X11/xorg.conf* had showed no output and had no change for my system.
I need to remember how to attach files. In the mean time, I'll attach bits that seem relevant

You said you messed it up… so mess it down ![]()
I need to remember how to attach files.
First link below.
Please use

tags. Edit your post in this regard.
And as mentioned, get rid of xf86-video-intel

I've removed it this time, but actually did it properly. I think.
Sddm didn't start reliably on the first try, all I saw was a floating underscore.
It did work on reboot though so its probably fine.
I'm a little annoyed actually because that was the first solution I found when I started my search. I tried it and it didnt work.
Apparently I didn't do it properly the first time.
Before I marked this solved. I'm going to use it for an hour or two to make sure it doesn't have problems.
Thank you for your help!
