Anyone else with nvidia 530 driver and GPU load at persistent 30%?

Some time ago when upgrading the nvidia driver from 525.89.02 to any v530 of the driver, that would cause intense color and elements of the desktop flickering and if given enough time, windows (like the terminal) would start travelling through the screen very fast. On the nvidia support forum someone suggested that I should add "nvidia_drm.modeset=1" at the linux line in the grub menu entry, which I did. With this setting the above mentioned problems no longer happen. However, with this setting and the v530 driver now the GPU is constantly loaded at 30% which isn't normal. For comparison, with 525.89.02 the GPU load was always at 5% load tops (unless I run a game).
Since I don't like this behaviour, I restored from a backup with the good driver version (525.89.02). However, I'd like to know if anyone else has seen this strange load and if you have fixed it, how did you do it?

The video card is GTX 1660 Ti, if it matters.
