I didn't see a a new topic about this, so I thought I would share. I'm building a new package and noticed sourceforge has rebuilt their site. Normally I would point my PKGBUILD source to easynews.dl.sourceforge.net etc, but this doesn't appear to work anymore. I found that I can use downloads.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/${pkgname} etc. and sourceforge will pick a mirror for you.

About time! I must test this to see, but if what you say is true then it'll save PKGBUILD writers and users a lot of hassle.

It was always suggested do not use specific SF mirrors and use /etc/hosts select specific mirror.

As i am one of the arch users that never managed to get the /etc/hosts solution working, i've tried this.
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/source … .0.tar.bz2
gave an error, project unknown.
However,
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/source … .0.tar.bz2
DID work and automatically selected a mirror.
So it seems the correct form is :
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I know, there were many reports about /etc/hosts workaround not working, but it works fine for me.
Yes, this is correct. Though I always get dl.sourceforge.net instead of downloads.sourceforge.net.
I first try to download source file with wget and then get something like http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/source … .1.tar.bz2
Then I just thow out mirror subdomain.
