grub pacnew

Hello, I have a problem with my grub. The other day when updating with pacman -Syyu you can see that there were two in the grub folder, the usual grub and another that says pacnew. When I want to edit the grub file to install a new theme and run grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg, the pc could not boot, I get the BIOS directly.
Can you explain to me what I should do, step by step, please. Thank you
