Hello everyone,
I have a problem I hope somebody can help me with:
Since a few days, my touchpad and keyboard both stop working randomly but then work again randomly as well. I am using Gnome with GDM. The problem occurs both when returning from standby to the login screen and when I am logged in during a work session. I already tried using another display manager but the keyboard also stopped responding when in tty mode.
This is the result I get from journalctl -p 3 -b

I cannot make sense of all of it so if anyone has an idea what I could try I would be very thankful.

NOTE: I am not an expert on hardware, or even Linux for that matter.
Around when did this start happening, and what did you do around then? Did you install any new drivers (It might be an issue with your driver, or graphics card), or software? Did you change the system in any way?
Second, when did you use journalctl? Were you in a Gnome session, or were you in a tty?
TIP: It seems like you are making journalctl show errors; it might be helpful to also show warnings, or notices. Warnings or notices can sometimes also be helpful, and shouldn't always be ignored. I assume you read a manual on journalctl, since you seem to know what -p does

Thank you for your help!
It started occuring around Friday, April 28th. First I waited to see whether it was a software problem that would solve itself but it didn't. I didn't change the system in any way either.
I used journalctl when I was in a Gnome session.
I can add that I also tried booting another linux distro from a live USB to see if the trackpad or keyboard would work again, but they didn't. However the keyboard works perfectly fine when in Bios.
If anybody has another idea what I can try I would be very thankful.

Update: the keyboard also doesn't work properly in BIOS. I presume it's a hardware defect but if anyone else has an idea I'd be glad if you let me know.

Perhaps get a new keyboard? If the keyboard doesn't work on alternative systems as well, then it's probably a hardware issue, much lower then the operating system itself.
TIP: When troubleshooting, try to narrow down the location of the problem before solving it. Is it a hardware issue? software issue? something to do with your display manager?
