I've tried doing some searching, I must be going about it the wrong way because it must not like the % sign too much. Lately, every time I go to do like either a pacman -S or a pacman -Syu, it updates smaller packages perfectly fine. However, the problems begin when I goto update larger packages. Sometimes it goes to 99% and hangs, other times it goes to 100% and hangs. However, to remedy this I usually control+c to close, then resume what I was doing and bam, it finishes and goes onto the next file.
However, I've been noticing (and ripping my hair out about it as well) that sometimes when I control+c then try again after it hangs at 99%, it will immediatly start at 100%, then continue to goto 101%, 102% all the way till 199% and stop. If I control+c and resume, it'll do this but start at 200% this time. The list goes on. I basically have to delete the downloaded file, and pray that it won't do it again. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't
Any ideas? Thanks

You can try using wget or another downloader (specified in /etc/pacman.conf) and see if that helps. I don't know why you're seeing this problem though, maybe someone else can shed some light.

That's a good idea, I never thought of that. My only problem with wget is that it makes a mess of your screen compared to what pacman defaults to. I guess function over beauty eh?

Maybe wget has an option for quiet mode.

Maybe I'll check it out since I didn't know about that mode Wget seems to have solved the problem. I don't understand why this is the case, but yeah.
Sucks I lost the ILoveCandy animations though : / I guess you can't have everything
