[SOLVED] Frequent crashes i95 drm flip_done timed out

Hi, hopefully this is the right place to ask this. After updating my system 2 days ago, I've been experiencing frequent freezes. The relevant journalctl entry is:

i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* [CRTC:131:pipe B] flip_done timed out

I've tried searching for the issue but can't find an exact replicate. Any ideas?

I don't have that particular package installed, though i do use an Intel Iris Xe. What about these ones?

You can remove all of the xf86-video* packages but they generally won't have an effect that's relevant here

What exactly got updated? Chances are it's a kernel regression

I did a general system update which definitely included the kernel. I don't have a full list of what was affected on hand, but in general i run a minimal system, so I expect the problem is with the kernel as well. However, I did test the zen kernel and the same issue persists. Funnily enough it froze right as I was typing this post.

Also I saw a similar post which suggested adding these kernel parameters:

intremap=off quiet splash button.lid_init_state=open

however this still does not solve the issue.

update which definitely included the kernel … did test the zen kernel

What about the LTS kernel?
