Sony WF-1000XM3 pairing but sometimes with no audio

Sometimes when I connect to the headphones it works just fine and plays audio but often GNOME says it's connected but headphones. are not recognized as an audio source and I don't hear the "Bluetooth connected" vocal confirmation. Interestingly; it usually gets fixed after a reboot and then even GDM connects automatically. If it doesn't, I usually have to reboot again and it is the case like 50% of the time. Just discovered when it does work, it connects to SSID: WF-1000XM3 and when it doesn't it connects to LE_WF-1000XM3. How do I connect to non-LE always It seems like it's random and an issue with the laptop and not the headphones.

Re: Sony WF-1000XM3 pairing but sometimes with no audio

edit /etc/bluetooth/main and change controller mode from dual to bredr

ControllerMode = bredr

then run  systemctl restart bluetooth
