Virtual keyboard in terminal/typing using arrow keys

I installed arch linux on my steam deck.

AFAIK while in the terminal the dpad is the arrow keys and A is enter. I'm not sure what any of the other buttons do.

I want to be able to type basic commands from within the terminal without having to bring both a keyboard and USB hub with me wherever I go. Is there any way to set up a virtual keyboard in the terminal so I can punch in keys one at a time with the arrow keys?

I'd assume no, and why? Just start a graphical session including an onboard keyboard and start your terminal emulator.

So that I can do things outside of a graphical session if necessary.
