Few problems with arch and laptop!

Greetings! I’m using arch linux (KDE desktop if needed) and im experiencing 2 problems!

1. Sometimes my laptop just won’t wake up after suspend, or after wakeup will get frozen so only hard restart is the solution.

2. Sometimes after choosing Arch Linux in grub my screen becomes something like this (https://imgur.com/a/ACabAz1). Any additional information can be provided! Thanks in advance!

Re: Few problems with arch and laptop!

1. "frozen" similar to the image you posted or it just won't wake up?
2. The screenshot looks more like some DM than grub?

Please post your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General

Hello Seth!
1. No, either it won't wake up, or just frozen: mouse and keyboard do not do anything.
2. This issue begins right after selecting arch linux in the grub, i.e right when the kernel loads. I can even see kernel loading messages while this error is there.

Re: Few problems with arch and laptop!

Then please also post the complete system journal for a boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'f:1=<-' ix.io

(ideally one with the artifacts, eg. "… -b -1 …" for the previous one
When it freezes after the S3 can you
a) switch to a different VT (ctrl+alt+F1,F2,F3,…)
b) ssh into the system
c) https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SysRq ?

When it freezes after the S3 can you
a) switch to a different VT (ctrl+alt+F1,F2,F3,…)
b) ssh into the system
c) https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SysRq ?

As far as I remember, after freezing i couldn't enter tty*, so the only way to bypass it was to hard restart, but i might remember wrong, lemme try it now

Re: Few problems with arch and laptop!

Well, if it's due to unregular system updates...The thing is I do them once in 3 days, but it seems i need to do them every day? Is it the problem you think?

Re: Few problems with arch and laptop!

Ok, but what about the second problem? I suppose it's related with nvidia drivers or something like that?

Re: Few problems with arch and laptop!

This has nothing to do w/ "unregular system updates", but you could try the behavior w/ the LTS kernel.
(The reference is only by vaguely similar symptoms and because you both have rembrand chips, though)

The nvidia driver doesn't play any role in your output, you've a hybrid system and are running in regular PRIME on the andgpu driver.
The problems might have the same cause and if the boot messages are affected, it's not because of xf86-video-amdgpu.

Edit: the system journal of an affected boot will help, because it should have similar error messages.

I don't know if this is related, but my laptop sometimes cannot wake up even on Windows (i use dual boot). I don't know if it is necessary but i turned on the safe boot option in uefi (was turned off while installing arch). If nothing changes, i might as well try LTS kernel, but only if u think it might change anything

Re: Few problems with arch and laptop!

i use dual boot

3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

If this is a regression, the LTS kernel may not be affected.

The fast startup was turned off since arch was installed, so no problems there. I just said it to u for u to understand that the same (half-same) problem persists in Windows as well
