Prevent interference of DEs with each other

How do you manage installing multiple Desktop Environments in the same system?

I installed xfce and kde, and whenever I enter switch from a session to another I get all the startup programs of the other session. Plasma gets its system tray in xfce and vice-verse.

What's worse is launching a window manager like DWM. Keymappers like sxhkd show "Keymap already grabbed by another program".

That really shouldn't happen.  Clearly one of your DEs is not actually shutting down properly / fully.

Trays / starup stuff could crossover if the diffent DEs rely on the same file / data storage for startup apps (e.g., one of the xdg autostart dirs for example) - but you can likely specify a DE/WM use a different path for these.  Or in the worst case, you could set different XDG_* environment variables for each session (certainly no need for different user accounts).
