ipw2100 Fatal interrups and firmware restarts

I'm having problems with my wireless card using the ipw2100 module on 2.6.19-ARCH. When I use my wireless card and start downloading files or streaming video I lose my internet connection. With casual browsing everything I don't lose my connection. This seems to happen only when I reach high download speeds with my card (200KB/s +).  I didn't have this problem before w/ earlier Arch releases.

When I check dmesg I see the following:
ipw2100: Fatal interrupt. Scheduling firmware restart.

Every time I lose my connection when downloading I will see the above message.

Has anyone else had this problem? How do I enable debug output so I can get better details on the problem?

Re: ipw2100 Fatal interrups and firmware restarts

I have the same problem.
The only workaround for now is to reload the module ipw2100 (modprobe).

This seems to be a known problem:

The post of  John Carlyle-Clarke (2008-03-12) says:

I mailed the driver contact at Intel with a link to this page and to their bugzilla link I gave above, just saying that a lot of people had problems and were keen to contribute to a fix if we could.

I got a mail back saying:-

"A community member recently backported a fix for RX overrruns in the ipw2200 driver. I assume the same problem may exist in the ipw2100
driver. If you are interested you can try to backport the fix to the ipw2100 driver ... details are here:
http://marc.info/?l=linux-wireless&m=12 … 521611&w=2
"

This is beyond my skills but might be useful to someone?
