which email client / solution do you use?

I was wondering what email client is everybody using out there. Just got a new computer and am setting up arch on it. I've used evolution, thunderbird, and elm and pine (way back in the day). I'm a recent KDE convert from gnome (no thoughing rotten veggies please smile and was wondering what experiences people have had with kmail. Also, it seems that thunderbird is the only one with build in spam filtering. I got inordenate amounts of this stuff so that was nice while i was using. I used to do the whole fetchmail / procmail / spamassassin / sendmail thing when i was using redhat. Anyway, just wondering if anybody had any suggestions and what works best form them?

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

i currently will only use sylpheed. but i hav eused mutt in the past. i loved mutt when i was using libranet but could never get it configured properly on my own. (ie could never get default browsers set up view images, etc).

i am pretty happy with sylpheed though. mind you it is my secondary mail client ( i use my mac for my main mail client)

Well iv'e recently been using sylpheed what is gtk1 based. It's bloody fast but is starting to annoy me a bit. Can't click on html links, and some other stuff irratates me. But it's still light years better than kmail.
Will be interested to see what people are mainly using as well.

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

On my Mac I use Apple's nice-and-capable Mail.app.  On several of my shell accounts, I use mutt, which is by far my favorite console-based mail app.  ( I despise Pine and couldn't use it for more than a minute before banging my head against a wall )

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

I have been using evolution for awhile but want to convert back to mozilla.

i can't seem to click on links in evolution and have my default browser (mozilla-firebird-firefox) pop up. it also hangs while trying to print from it.

if anyone has solutions for these quirks let me know.

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

For clicking on mail links with sylpheed, use the middle button.  It worked, at least for me when using sylpheed.

I use mutt mostly.  On occasion I miss a gui client, but the nice thing for me, working in a place where I'm all over the place is that I can ssh into my BSD box and get my mail from anywhere in the company.

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

hrrm--the obvious questions, do you have the browser set up in the configuration file?

It may just be in sylpheed-claws (which is what I have in FreeBSD.

The command (in the "other" section of Common Preferences is

opera -remote 'openURL(%s, new-window)'

Again, this was Sylpheed-claws.  However, I vaguely remember that it would work, you'd just have to click a few times.

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

I use Evolution + SpamAssassin.

I really don't like Evolution, but it's the best I can find.

Basically, I want to use Mutt without having to do the whole sendmail/procmail/fetchmail dance. I know I can, but it doesn't work as well.

I've already got 6 accounts with like 20 filters set up though, so I don't feel like redoing that to try out another email client.

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

I used to use mutt when I was on NetBSD, but it was a bit too spartan for me.  When I was on windows I used Thunderbird, or Mozilla Mail, both still very good email clients.  Now, though, since I've taken a liking to GTK and gnome apps, I used Balsa as my email client.  Very simple and easy to use.  Nothing fancy.  Does what I need.  Also, I use fetchmail, procmail, and have setup bogofilter to actually retrieve my mail.  Balsa is just the reader.  It all just works.

I use Mozilla - on Windows, Mac, Slackware, and yes of course, my Arch box. Consistency across platforms is nice.

Re: which email client / solution do you use?

Hi,

i'm using sylpheed-claws for a long time now, it is extremely configurable.
It was mentioned that thunderbird is the only one with built in spam filtering.
For sylpheed-claws there is a easy connection to bogofilter (which is in extra)
How to set this up you can find here:

contrasutra: spamassassin was so f....ng slow on my box. It really annoyed
me. Is that normal or was it stupid me?

I use Kmail. Yes I use KDE and having an integrated mail client works fine for me.
